On The Baby Mix Tape

For those of you who were wondering, I did finish the Baby Mix Tape I once blogged about. In fact, I finished it awhile ago and never blogged about the final cut. Now there are also two smaller mixes made up of faster and slower songs that made the final cut. A Day Baby Mix Tape and a Night Baby Mix Tape, if you will.

Today we gave it it's first run. When CCR, Looking Out My Back Door, came on, he settled down immediately. Wide-eyed and peaceful. Then Now and Always, by David Gray followed. I tried to sing it to him, but he scowled. I love that song. It reminds me of him, "You're in my mind baby, now and always". By the time Shelter, by Ray Lamontagne, came on, he was fast asleep. But as I listen to it, I think this is a pretty good mix.

Many of you will know little of some of the 70 or so songs. Others may know all of them. But let me know what you think.

Baby mix tape ?
Some choice tunes there, but maybe a bit too much contemporary Christian? Could you maybe toss in some cure, squeeze,, INXS?

*ha* Nightswimming. Of course that would be on there.

Nice selection. Only 1 Damien Rice? Interesting choice. Calico Skies is a good one (it was actually our wedding song).

Yeah, I would've liked more Damien, but many of his songs are too dissonant for a baby I think. They change volume to quickly many times and make it tough to listen too, even for me. But Amie's a great song and moves a little more smoothly than some of his others.

Same goes for the fact that there's no INXS or cure or much rock music on there. As much a fan of that music that I am (which isn't anything more than casual) it doesn't have the soothing tones we were looking for. As for the contemporary Christian content, well, much of what I've selected are hymns that I like -- except for Rich Mullins (and you can't go wrong with Rich).

And yes, any and all lists must include Nightswimming.
