My Turn(ey)

Even with the arrival of the baby, I did manage to make my 2007 NCAA Tournament picks. I even submitted them into the office pool in the nick of time. And so far, not too bad. I asked Isaac for help, and he had little to give honestly, but together we picked and watched the games this past weekend. So a couple of thoughts first.

1. Greg Oden is a thug. That was a dirty, intentional foul and OSU should've lost the game.

2. Mike Barnes (Texas Coach) is an idiot. How do you not call a timeout when your team is getting trampled by a 17-3 run? How? And how do you fail to post up your best player on smaller guards? Forget that, try getting him the ball period. Kevin Durant got the ball twice during that USC run. Ugh...so upset at this outcome.

3. Going into the 2nd round I had 14 winners to pick out of a possible 16 games. I was 13 of 13 heading into the Texas game. I had Texas. I had Texas winning it all. I hate Rick Barnes. Complete moron. I finished with 13 of 16 winners picked and in 13th place overall in the office pool.

4. I still have an outside shot at winning the office pool. But OSU must lose. But I've been rooting for that all along. I despise the buckeyes. They should've lost Saturday (but ended up winning the best game of the tournament so far. Go figure). How Isaac slept through my screaming and yelling during this game is also beyond me.

5. I'll miss Gus Johnson. A fantastic announcer. I get chills thinking about his call of the OSU game and the UCLA game from last year. Great play-by-play guy. Why CBS isn't letting him continue is beyond me.

My picks for the final four are intact, well, except for Texas. I have Florida, UCLA, Texas A&M and had Texas. I'm leading a couple of online groups but we'll see. Without my National Champion, I don't stand much of a chance. Can't say I've heard of anyone winning without having the eventual champion.

This seems to be a very regular year. All the top seeds are winning, and there doesn't seem to be any Cinderella (UNLV is the closest thing - I had them losing).

Therefore, though I'm doing well, I'm probably not doing as well as I think. I've picked 12 of the sweet 16 and I've got all 8 of the Elite Eight still alive and naturally all 4 of the Final Four - Florida, UCLA, North Carolina, and Memphis. I've got NC winning it all only because I don't want Florida to.

Check out Bill Littlefield's "Bracket Bragging" - I heard it on NPR this morning and thought you might appreciate it: read it

I can say that the games (especially last night) have been exciting. Even my Mrs. stopped by for a few minutes to watch the games wind down. I do not know how OSU can get back into a game...again! Give them credit but it seems to be when Oden is on the bench. His last second block to end the game was overrated but fun to watch. Texas just plain stinketh! (KJ Version of the word).

In any case, go FLORIDA!

I agree with you on Gus Johnson...absolutely the best commentator out there. I wish they'd retire Billy Packer. If Tennessee had held on against OSU I'd be 4/4 for the Elite 8 with all 4 of my others still in tonight.

Can I say that I've never been so ashamed to be a Kentucky fan? We are going to be the laughingstock of college basketball after chasing off one of the most respected and successful coaches in the game. I doubt we can attract anyone better. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

With your "Oden is a thug" and "I despise the Buckeyes" comments, you have just removed your chance to win the office bracket. I won't be able to hand the winnings over to someone with such beliefs...it just wouldn't feel right.
You live in Buckeye Country now...there are a few things you need to learn; such as, how to burn a couch, irrational hatred of all things Michigan(including Tom Brady and all his love children), and the appropriate response when someone yells "O-H".
With these 3 tools, you can easily assimilate.

Good Luck and GO BUCKS!!!

You sound like a member of the Borg .

Trust me..."resistance is not futile". Especially when you make it so easy to despise all of you.

One note on Oden: if he becomes a Celtic, I'm on board. But I want Durant.
